The lakeside variant of the Graspo del Moro — the shortest loop in the collection and the one with the most rewarding destination. From Castelnuovo del Garda the route heads west through gravel tracks and countryside, reaching the shore of Lake Garda at Passeggiata sul lago before looping back through the Ronchi area.
At just under 20 km with only 75 m of elevation gain, this is the most accessible route in the Graspo del Moro family. The lake at the halfway point makes it feel like a proper ride with a destination — not just a loop. Perfect for a relaxed morning, a family outing or a first ride in the area.
The route leaves Castelnuovo del Garda heading west, quickly finding its way onto gravel tracks through open fields. The terrain is flat, the surface is good, and there is almost no traffic throughout.
The route continues west, gradually descending toward the lakeshore. As you get closer the air changes — cooler, lighter — and the lake begins to appear through gaps in the trees.
The arrival at the lakeshore is the highlight of the ride. A lakeside promenade with direct views over Lake Garda — wide, blue and very much worth stopping for. This is the natural midpoint of the loop and the place to take a break, have a coffee if there is a bar open, and look out at the water before heading back.
From the lake the route turns south, passing alongside the Gardaland theme park — an oddly peaceful contrast to what’s happening on the other side of the fence. From here the route curves back east through the Ronchi area, climbing gently back toward Castelnuovo through fields and countryside lanes before returning to the starting point at the Oregolo sports centre.
The lakeshore at Passeggiata sul lago has bars and cafés open during the season — a perfect natural stop at the halfway point of the ride.
If you are riding with children or non-cyclists in the group, the lakeshore area near Gardaland has facilities, beaches and restaurants — making it easy to combine the ride with a longer stay at the lake.
Parking is available at the starting point at the sports center in Via Oregolo. Alternatively, the route can also be started directly from the lakeshore at Lido Campanello or Ronchi if you prefer to begin at the water and ride inland first.
