About the region

A region that's made for riding

South Garda Bike Region is a cycling destination built around the morainic hills, vineyards and quiet rural roads south of Lake Garda.
Here the landscape moves at the right pace: gentle climbs, gravel tracks through the fields, small villages worth a stop, and the lake always somewhere nearby.

Some places are best understood from the saddle. The South Garda Bike Region was built for the riders who want to feel a landscape rather than just see it — to smell the vineyards, climb the hills, stop at the lake and leave knowing they actually went somewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to plan your ride

The region is based around Castelnuovo del Garda, in the province of Verona. It sits on the morainic hills east of Lake Garda, between Verona, Mantova and Brescia — easy to reach from across northern Italy and Europe.

Verona Villafranca Airport is 15–20 minutes away by car. By road, take the A4 Milan–Venice motorway and exit at Peschiera del Garda (soon there will also be the exit Castelnuovo del Garda). By train, the closest well-served stations are Peschiera del Garda and Verona, with local bus connections to Castelnuovo.

Soft morainic hills, gravel tracks, quiet country roads and vineyard paths. The landscape is rolling but never extreme — perfect for gravel bikes, road bikes and e-bikes. Traffic is very light on most routes.

There is something for every type of rider. Gravel bikes are ideal for the mixed terrain, road bikes are perfect on the paved sections, e-bikes are welcome on all routes and make the hills very manageable, and MTB riders will enjoy the off-road stretches. If you are visiting with family, the shorter Sandrà loop is accessible even on a city or trekking bike.

Yes. All routes are available to download as GPX files from the routes page and on Komoot. Information panels with QR codes are also placed along the main Graspo del Moro trail.

The historic route

Il Graspo del Moro — where the ride begins

The Graspo del Moro is the heart of South Garda Bike Region. A loop through the morainic hills, vineyards and quiet countryside of Castelnuovo del Garda — named after a historic local wine variety that has been grown in these fields for generations.
