A varied gravel ride through the white roads and vineyard paths south of Lake Garda, heading deep into the Custoza hills and finishing with one of the most unusual landmarks in the area — the Panchina Gigante Gialla, the giant yellow bench overlooking the countryside at San Giorgio in Salici.
At just under 50 km with 312 m of elevation gain, this is a moderate route with plenty of flat and rolling sections. The terrain is never extreme, but the distance makes it a proper half-day or full-day ride. Ideal for gravel bikes and e-bikes.
The route passes through several small villages where a coffee stop is easy to find. The Custoza area is particularly worth a pause — this is one of the most respected wine denominations of the Verona province, and several local cantinas along the route welcome visitors for a tasting.
At the Panchina Gigante, take your time — the view from the giant bench is one of the best on the entire route.
On the return leg, the small towns between Custoza and Castelnuovo have bars and cafés where you can stop for a coffee or a cold drink before the final stretch home.
The GPX route starts at the parking lot of the Castelnuovo sports center "Oregolo", but you can find plenty of parking spots along the entire route.
